LIBAL reaches the finals of BIM Champions 2021

  • Company from Lake Constance convinces expert jury with a platform for digital building documentation
  • Competition under the patronage of three federal ministries

Meckenbeuren. Great success for LIBAL: The software startup from Lake Constance made it to the finals at the first attempt in the "BIM Champions" competition, which aims to promote the digitalization of the construction industry. The finalists and the subsequent prize winners were selected by a jury of twelve experts under the patronage of three federal ministries. The organizer of the award is the buildingSMART initiative.

"Making it to the finals is a great confirmation for our team, especially since we have only been actively selling LIBAL software on the German market for a short time," says a delighted Daniel Schwarz, Managing Director at LIBAL. As a reward, the company from Meckenbeuren (Lake Constance district) will be allowed to present itself at the buildingSMART Innovation Forum, which is jointly organized by the Federal Ministry of Economics and the Federal Ministry of Transport, as soon as the Corona situation allows. The Federal Ministry of the Interior is also a patron of the award - an indication of the importance that politicians now attach to digitization in construction.

Basis is the "digital twin" of an object

LIBAL is a collaborative platform for digital building documentation that integrates all project partners to ensure on-time information and performance - and to secure the value of the investment in the long term. Using LIBAL is equally worthwhile for owners of single-family homes and owners of large properties.  The associated efficiency and cost benefits are particularly great when used over the entire life cycle of a building or facility.

The basis for this is a so-called digital twin, an exact data model of the object. This model is leveled on the planning method BIM (Building Information Modeling). "Compared to Scandinavian countries, Great Britain or even Switzerland, Germany still has some catching up to do when it comes to using BIM and other tools to support digital processes in construction," explains Daniel Schwarz. "However, this will change in the next few years - and we want to accompany our customers in the construction industry, the real estate sector and the planning sector in this process."

The association buildingSMART e.V., which promotes the use of BIM and the digitalization of the construction and real estate industry as part of an international competence network, is responsible for selecting the "BIM Champions". LIBAL had applied in the category operation / maintenance.
